Stakeholder Management

Recognizing Your Champions & Adversaries

Have you ever been surprised by opposition to your event? Do you know who has influence over what happens at your event? Do you know all the constituencies affected by your event? Do you know who is a threat and who is a champion? This session explores how to manage risk by managing relationships with all those individuals and organizations that will contribute to or challenge your ability to produce a successful event.

Learner Objectives

In this session, you will learn how to:

  • Define who your stakeholders are and what they want

  • Use a stakeholder analysis to assess their validity, power, and urgency

  • Prioritize stakeholders according to power, influence, and interest

  • Devise strategies that will engage and build rapport with your stakeholder constituencies
